Designed to be a Centre of Excellence for Autism, Innova was chosen to design, supply, and install a hydrotherapy pool and hoist system at the brand-new Sandside Lodge School building. The previous school building was no longer suitable, so a new facility was constructed to include sensory and physiotherapy rooms, specialist science facilities, and a therapy suite. Sandside is home to 80 students with additional and complex needs aged 2 to 19. We were introduced to the project by the architect, Bowman Riley, and Seddon Construction to advise on hydrotherapy pool specifications and installs.
We worked with the architect and the client to create a bespoke design for an inset stainless steel hydrotherapy pool, complete with air jets, colour-changing LED lights, and a perimeter handrail. We also included an overhead hoist system leading from the changing facilities into the hydrotherapy room. Innova was also responsible for installing the plant room and environmental controls to control the temperature of the room.
Innova supplied a XXm x XXm hydrotherapy pool, water jets and LED lights to provide a stimulating sensory experience for the Sandside Lodge students. We also installed a ceiling track hoist system using AirGlide 360 tracking with an AirRise 200 hoist unit, to provide safe transfers between the pool and the changing rooms. A roll-out pool cover was also provided to help heat retention and save the school some money on running costs.
