Enhancing Care Through Hydrotherapy for Luxury Buckinghamshire Care Home
A fully coordinated hydrotherapy and bariatric moving-and-handling solution designed to support safe, dignified and person-centred care.
The Challenge
Aston Manor is a luxury care home in Aylesbury, operated by Harrington Care Homes and opened in October 2025. As part of the new development, the care home required specialist facilities that could support residents with a wide range of physical and mobility needs. This included a dedicated hydrotherapy pool alongside bariatric moving-and-handling equipment within selected bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms and the pool changing area. The different systems needed to be carefully coordinated with the building design while maintaining the high-quality, non-clinical finish expected throughout the home.
Approach
Innova worked closely with the wider project team to provide one coordinated solution covering the hydrotherapy pool, ceiling-track hoists, specialist bedroom furniture and the pool-room environment. By bringing these elements together under one specialist partner, we were able to consider how each system would interact from the outset. Particular attention was given to creating smooth transfer routes, discreetly integrating equipment into the interior design and ensuring the facilities could safely accommodate residents with complex and bariatric care requirements.
Implementation
We installed a 4m x 3m skimmer hydrotherapy pool manufactured with a durable 316L stainless-steel finish, together with the associated filtration, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems for the pool room. Six bedrooms were fitted with inset ceiling tracking and bariatric hoists, each providing a lifting capacity of up to 500kg and connecting directly into the adjoining en-suite bathroom. A seventh hoist was installed within the changing room, with a coupling gate enabling transfers to continue seamlessly through to the pool area. We also supplied fitted bedhead units designed to incorporate the hoists discreetly while they are stored and charging.
Results
Aston Manor now benefits from an integrated hydrotherapy and moving-and-handling solution that supports safer transfers, greater dignity and more personalised care. The continuous hoist routes help reduce unnecessary manual handling and enable residents to move more comfortably between their bedrooms, bathrooms, changing facilities and the hydrotherapy pool. By coordinating the specialist equipment, pool systems and interior integration as one package, Innova helped simplify a complex element of the development while delivering facilities that complement the care home’s premium, welcoming environment.
