The Challenge

Oxlow Bridge SEN School required a safe, future-proof hydrotherapy and hoisting solution that could support pupils with a wide range of complex physical needs. The school wanted to maximise accessibility, reduce manual handling risks for staff, and create a therapeutic environment that could be used flexibly by multiple users — all delivered in line with the Department for Education (DfE) programme requirements.

Approach

Innova worked closely with 3BM, Willmott Dixon and the Oxlow Bridge team to fully understand their clinical, operational and educational needs. Drawing on our specialist experience in SEN environments, we provided a collaborative, end-to-end approach — from design and specification through to delivery, ensuring compliance, longevity and ease of use were built into every decision.

Implementation

Through the DfE programme, Innova supplied and installed an innovative moving floor hydrotherapy pool, allowing for inclusive, adaptable access for pupils with varying mobility levels. Alongside the pool, we delivered an integrated hoisting solution to ensure safe, dignified transfers and seamless movement throughout the hydrotherapy space.

Results

The completed facility provides Oxlow Bridge SEN School with a highly accessible, therapeutic environment that supports both pupil wellbeing and staff safety. The moving floor pool enables greater independence, flexibility and participation, while the hoisting systems reduce physical strain on staff and improve day-to-day efficiency. The result is a future-ready hydrotherapy space that enhances care, therapy and learning for years to come.
