Overview

In August 2022, Innova Care Concepts installed a modular Changing Places toilet at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo on the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade, making the event more accessible for visitors with complex care needs. This installation marks a significant step towards inclusivity for the Tattoo, which returned this year with its show Voices after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Changing Places toilets cater to over 250,000 people in the UK who require more than standard accessible toilets due to their care needs. The facility, equipped with specialist healthcare equipment like an overhead hoist system, is designed to reduce strain on caregivers and enhance safety during transfers.

The Tattoo’s commitment to installing this facility every year aligns with broader efforts to make cultural events more inclusive. The addition of this modular Changing Place will allow more individuals, particularly those with complex care requirements, to participate in the event.

Innova’s role in this project underscores their long-standing collaboration with the Changing Places campaign, contributing to over 100 installations across the UK. This initiative highlights the importance of accessible facilities in public venues, enhancing both inclusivity and visitor experience.
