That’s precisely why we wanted to introduce you to modular Changing Places — a project that we ourselves have been involved in recently.
Whenever you’re out and about, you’ve probably seen lots of disabled toilets dotted around public spaces. These offer very basic facilities to a small selection of disabled users. Changing Places include a larger variety of equipment as well as much more space, which allows carers to manoeuvre the user in a safe and dignified manner. Just under a quarter of a million disabled people in the UK require the support offered by a Changing Place. Modular Changing Places are mobile units that can be situated wherever needed to provide good facilities for disabled users. They’re a bit like bigger Portaloos that the majority of the disabled community can use. These units can be hired out for various periods of time and are all compliant with the BS8300:2009 regulations (which stipulate what is to be included in a Changing Place). Modular Changing Places offer an easy solution to existing buildings that either can’t accommodate a Changing Place, or are waiting for one to be installed. Modular Changing Places are also a great temporary solution for events and festivals where they’re only needed for a day or two.
