Innova awarded £205,000 contract for hoists at the Grange University Hospital

Innova Care Concepts is delighted to announce that it has been chosen to supply and install numerous ceiling track hoists at the new Grange University Hospital in Cwmbran, Wales.

This is the third NHS contract that Innova has won in the past year, having been assigned to supply hoists to both Midland Metropolitan Hospital in Birmingham and Orkney’s Balfour Hospital.

This new-build £350 million hospital will be a specialised critical care centre for south-west Wales and will have 560 beds. Innova is providing 47 X-Y ceiling track hoist systems that will be inset to the ceiling itself which will help the hospital to maintain good levels of infection control.

Innova’s senior contracts manager, Bob Oliver, said:

“We worked closely with BDP Architects on this project to ensure that all the plans would tick all the boxes for an environment as demanding and important as the critical care centre.

“We also did a demonstration to the NHS Trust that showed how our systems would work in the hospital. They ended up awarding us the contract because of our innovative equipment and entrepreneurial spirit!”

The hospital will also be treating bariatric patients. This meant that the trust needed to assign a hoist supplier who could provide systems and equipment that can withstand larger weights.

Innova was the only supplier who could deliver this, and the company will be providing AiRise500 hoist units that can lift up to 500kg in weight. The team will also be making sure that all overhead hoist systems are installed and tested to facilitate transfers of plus-sized patients.

Tom Hulbert, managing director of Innova, said:

“It’s great to win another NHS contract; I think it just shows how much of a trusted supplier we are to hospital and healthcare facilities all around the country.

We went that step further than any of our competitors and designed a hoist system that ticked all the boxes of the hospital in terms of infection control and weight limits.

Big contracts like this will help us achieve our vision to become the most sought-after brand in the healthcare sector.”

Innova will begin work on The Grange University Hospital in 2019, with the project due to be completed in Autumn 2020. Find out more about Innova’s AirRise500 hoist unit here.
